It was a historic night on Friday for O’Dea’s head coach, Monte Kohler, securing his fifth state title victory with O’Dea, and tying the state record of 394 total wins on Friday night at Husky Stadium against the #1 ranked Bellevue Wolverines, concluding the game with a 31-7 win in, in favor of the Irish.
The 2nd half was dominated by O’Dea’s junior running back, Uriah Stringfield, who opened the half with a 63-yard touchdown, and this was the beginning of the end for the Wolverines. Stringfield finished the game with 301 yards rushing against one of the state’s most dominant defensive lines.
Bellevue took an early 7-point lead with a fumble recovery and touchdown by senior Bryce Smith. O’Dea quickly followed that with a fumble recovery of their own and a rushing touchdown from Quarterback, Hutton Leverett, tying the game at 7-7.
A 19-yard touchdown pass to Senior Malik Dawson gave O’Dea the crucial edge at halftime, setting them up for a big second half.
This was a match of two absolute juggernauts and served as testimony to the team that O’Dea built this year.
