Football: Crusaders roll Beavers to bounce back in Metro League

After a tough loss to the Fighting Irish last week, the Crusaders met the Beavers at Memorial Stadium to try and regain its footing in the Metro League.

Last Thursday night at Memorial Stadium, the Eastside Catholic Crusaders faced The Ballard Beavers in a one-sided match up. These teams have a long history of playing each other, and EC generally come out on top. This game was true to history, and even with its second-string QB, EC won out 41-7.

Despite being the back-up QB, sophomore Luca Villasenor started the game hot with a 39-yard touchdown pass to RB/WR Carson McKelheer. After scoring on their opening drive, the Crusaders never took their foot of the gas and kept hanging unanswered points on the scoreboard.

Villasenor led from under center, throwing for 3 touchdowns and one pick in his second-ever varsity game. Eastside Catholic finished the day with 274 total yards — 158 passing yards and 116 rushing.

Ballard was finally able to push through the Crusader defense for a rushing touchdown in the end of the 4th quarter to make the final score 41-7. But the consolation prize was too little, too late as the Beavers tried to see the game out.

The Crusaders bring home another win, a needed bounce-back win after from their loss against O’Dea the previous week. The Crusaders will have tough match up against Roosevelt this coming Friday, and the Beavers will try for a victory as they face off against Seattle Prep.
