Volleyball: Panthers sweep aside Crusaders as hot start to season continues

Seattle Prep squared off against Eastside Catholic in an effort to keep pace with West Seattle’s torrid pace in the Metro League

Last season’s Metro League champions Seattle Prep rolled Eastside Catholic 3-0 in their conference matchup this Tuesday.

In 9 games, they’ve only dropped 6 sets, winning 26 sets. Last year, Prep also won 3-0. Crusaders looked to overturn last year’s outcome but came up short. Winning this many sets this early on shows they’re a early dominant force.

Eastside Catholic who came in with a 7-3 overall before their matchup against a very talented Prep who is 7-1. Having the Metro League Coach of the Year Zoe Haywood return and many other dominant aspects returning to the court for the Panthers the favor was for them over Crusaders.

Hitters like seniors Delaney Dorscht (Colorado College), Gabi Smith (University of Idaho), along with sophomore Maddy Connor helped with the dominant win. Dorscht and Smith were big parts of the success for Prep last year and are looking to takeover Metro for a second year straight as the Panthers march toward repeating another Metro League championship.
