At Seattle Prep’s Homecoming last Friday night, the Panthers cruised through Ballard Beavers 59-12 on the shoulders of First Team All Metro QB Beau Oaksmith, who led the Panthers to their 3rd straight victory.
This game was important for both teams to solidify their spot in the Metro League. Ballard was coming off 3 losses looking to earn a win, and Prep was starting to pick up some momentum with two back-to-back wins and going into this game looking for a third.
The tone was quickly set by junior running back Ezra Maul as he ran in a 17-yard touchdown right through the Beavers’ defense. Maul was slicing through the Beavers defense with ease all night. Maul came away with 3 touchdowns at the end of the game, along with some head turns as he will be a key piece for the Panthers down the road this season and next.
But it wasn’t just Maul’s show on Friday, as he was supported by quality play from his quarterback Oaksmith, who threw an incredible 70-yard touchdown pass to senior receiver William Kuder along with quality play all around from the senior signal caller.
Ballard eventually managed to make their way into the Panthers redzone to set up for a 5-yard touchdown to try and light a spark. But the Panthers defense put on a show only allowing 87 total yards for the Beavers the entire game. This was led by senior middle linebacker Truman Neuburger who picked up two fumble recoveries in the Beavers’ red zone.
The Seattle Prep Panthers (4-2) will head over to Acosta Field to take on a Metro League rival Eastside Catholic Crusaders (5-1) on Eastsides Homecoming night. Ballard will head into West Seattle Stadium to take on undefeated O’Dea (6-0).
