The two Metro League teams clashed on Tuesday in what would become a hefty 7-0 win for the Crusaders. The win moved the Crusaders to 1-0-1 in the Metro League, launching them to 2nd place in the 3A Metro standings.

The week prior, the Crusaders displayed a strong defense against the 3A King Co Giant, Bellevue High School in a drawn-out 0-0 tie. Coming into Tuesday, the Crusaders were ready to show off their attacking talent against a lower-ranked Franklin.

The Crusaders put up a dominant first half, as sophomore superstar Olivia Shogren opened the scoreboard with a goal in the 13th minute for the Crusaders, giving EC an early lead. This was then followed up by a goal from Laney Brandsma, in the 18th minute of the game. The Crusaders scored 4 goals in the first half as they controlled possession and kept the Quakers on the backfoot.

At halftime, the Quakers headed into the locker room to change tactics and begin chipping back at this Eastside defense. But the Crusaders weren’t done, putting up 3 more goals against Franklin in the 2nd half.

While it may be early in the season, Eastside Catholic looks like it could be a strong contender for a top spot in the Metro League.
