The Garfield Bulldogs took on the Mt. Spokane Wildcats at 1 pm on Saturday, November 11th. In the round of 16, each team was fighting to stay alive as the format had shifted to loser out. Garfield entered the game feeling confident with a record of 7-2. The Bulldog’s confidence was matched by Mt. Spokane’s 9-1 record.
As the halftime huddles broke, Mt. Spokane was on the hunt for their first score and Garfield hoped to carry some scoring moment. With eight minutes left in the third quarter, the Bulldogs were able to enter the red zone and convert, putting them to a comfortable lead (21-0). Mt. Spokane hustled to answer back before the conclusion of the third quarter. They escaped with a touchdown and an extra point, making the score 21-7.
The first 10 minutes of the fourth quarter was a stalemate until Garfield broke the tension with a score (28-7). As the Bulldogs became comfortable, Mt. Spokane crept back in with a couple touchdowns making the score 28-22. With one minute left in the game the Wildcats looked to send the game to overtime but were unable to do so. Leaving Garfield victorious and moving onto the next round.
The early quarters were slow as Garfield only scored two touchdowns in the first half.

Garfield will take on O’Dea at 2pm on Saturday November 18th at Memorial Stadium. O’Dea is entering this match undefeated and has no had a close game in weeks. Will the Bulldogs be able to end the Fighting Irish’s road to state?
