Football: Panthers Claw Past Wildcats

After a close fought game, the Panthers were able beat the Wildcats to advance to the next round of playoffs.

With a 28-21 final score, the Seattle Prep Panthers won their first round of playoffs after a hard-fought battle against the Oak Harbor Wildcats last Friday.

As Oak Harbor came off a tough overtime loss to Monroe last week, the Wildcats came into this game seeking redemption. Carson Lang had one of the most exciting plays of the night by rushing a 66-yard touchdown for Oak Harbor.

Two minutes into the game, Leo Harnetiaux threw a 30-yard touchdown reception to Alec Greenwood to put the first points on the board for Seattle Prep. This was quickly followed by a powerful drive by the Wildcats that set up senior running back Lang for a 1-yard rushing touchdown to end off the first quarter.

As senior quarterback Beau Oaksmith returned to the field, he put on a show with a 25-yard rushing touchdown and two passing touchdowns to secure the win for the Panthers. Junior wide receiver Will Kuder chipped in with two receiving touchdowns and a handful of big catches throughout the entirety of the game.

As Seattle Prep survived this game and advances to the next round, they will now have an away game facing the Lakes High School team who’s record is 9-1.
