The Lincoln Abes came to take on Eastside Catholic Crusaders last Saturday, November 12th. EC is coming off of a big playoff win against Hermiston with a final score of 49-6. Lincoln won their previous game 56-22.

EC started off on the right foot on 3rd & 10, where QB Jake Tiryakioglu stepped up in the pocket and delivered a nice pass to sophomore wideout Asa Thompson. Thompson ran for 47 yards, which gave EC the first down and great field position. On 2nd down on the same drive, EC got their first points of the game with a 21-yard touchdown pass to #18 Chris Taylor. Taylor broke a few tackles before he scored. EC continued to score, Ambrose Marsh returning an insane punt return for a touchdown. Marsh juked out Lincoln’s defense and rumbled in to make the score 23-0. EC couldn’t be stopped. EC kept running up the score board and their defense continued locking up. EC kept scoring, and ended the game 40-0.

EC dominated in total yardage and all stats of the game. They had 206 yards compared to Lincoln’s 52. EC passed for 105 yards and Lincoln passed for 42 yards. EC dominated in rushing yards with 125 yards with Burrows rushing for 68 yards, compared to Lincoln’s rush yards of 10. EC’s defense stopped Lincoln throughout the whole game. EC turned the ball over 4 times. Lincoln did a good job challenging Tirakioglu, causing 3 interceptions with only 1 touchdown. This wasn’t EC’s best offensive game of the year, but their defense showed up and carried them to victory.

This game ended Lincoln’s season with a 7-4 record. Eastside Catholic will continue their run at the state championship, where they’ll be playing Kennewick at memorial stadium at 1pm on 11/18. Kennewick is 10-1, likely to be a competitive game for both teams.
