In this year’s 3A Metro Private School State Championship, it was a runback from the two powerhouses Seattle Prep and O’Dea. In a game bound to be a close one, it was Panthers who showed their dominance, downing the Irish 6-4 and earning a second straight championship.
Prep’s attack was led by Callum Skillestad with 2 goals, while Win Chandler had 1 goal and an assist. Kyle Fitzgerald and Henri Downer wrapped up the scoring for Panthers. The goalie Teddy Pehl, had a very solid game with 10 saves on 14 shots and was one of the main reasons Prep went back-to-back.
O’Dea’s season comes to an end, but they put together an excellent season and kept battling all the way through. Cooper Gissing netted a pair of goals for the Irish while Dylan Smith and Kaleb Carr also chipped in with goals. Ironically, this is the first game all season in which Irish standout Miles Tropea has failed to find the goal, and it’s likely a testament to the Prep gameplan that he was unable to help his team to victory.
Prep remains the top team in the state and have a target on their backs, and O’Dea will undoubtedly be looking for revenge next season.
