Yesterday the Eastlake Wolves traveled to play the Eastside Catholic Crusaders in a highly anticipated matchup. These two teams have started off the season very strong and want to continue in that direction. In the end, the Wolves bested EC, winning by a score of 11-7.
This was a good matchup, as the game was never out of reach for either team. However, the Wolves had one major advantage on the Crusaders which was face-offs and groundballs. Usually the Crusaders are successful in that area of the game as they have a very solid face-off specialist Jacob Dahl, but he was off his game against the Wolves.
One of the best goal scorers this game was Cam McColly on EC, who had 5 goals and was one of the main players who kept the Crusaders in the game. For Eastlake, it was more of a team effort and not one individual player. The Wolves moved the ball very well which caused lots of goalie and defensive errors which opened up shot opportunities which Eastlake would almost always capitalize on.
The Crusaders face a lighter opponent for their next game, as they play Kennedy Catholic on Monday at 8 PM. Eastlake will hope to keep their strong start going as they play on April 2nd at 8 PM against Issaquah.
