Yesterday, The Eastside Catholic Crusaders played a hard-fought game against the Lincoln Abe’s for the state semifinals. The Crusaders slipped away with a victory 58-51. Despite some elements of sloppy play, EC was able to hold on past a gritty Abes team that was determined to take them to the buzzer.
At halftime the two teams were all tied up 24-24 after a defensive battle in the first half. The game really came down to who wanted it more and who was willing to play the hardest and win. Jacob Cofie came up clutch for the Crusaders he ended the game with A double double of 19 points 12 rebounds and 5 assists. Most of those stats came in the 2nd half. Yabi Aklog also had a very good game with 18 points and 9 rebounds. Aklog and Cofie both had a huge impact for the Crusaders and helped them earn an important win.
The Crusaders will play a tough Mt. Spokane team, that is riding its own hot streak into the state tournament.
