Boys Soccer: Crusaders cruise past Chief Sealth in a 3-0 victory

The Chief Sealth Seahawks traveled to Eastside Catholic last Friday to face off against the Crusaders on another matchday of the Metro-Sound league. The two teams clashed on the 21st of March, and the Crusaders came out on top with a comeback win, so Sealth will be looking to even the odds and strike back against this Eastside team. The Crusaders came into this game the favorites, and their constant pressure and dominance on the ball showed why.

Deo Antoun of EC shoots the ball.

Santino Miguel of Eastside Catholic opened the scoring; he tucked one in past the goalkeeper with a great strike off of a cross. Miguel has been a key player for this EC team, and his skills on the ball and in front of goal make him a top player in the Metro League. His EC career has been plagued with injuries, especially in his sophomore and junior years, so his return to the field has provided the Crusader attack the extra quality in the middle it was looking for.

Eastside’s second goal came from Xak Mitchell, who used his speed and strength on the ball to carry it up the field, dribbling through defenders, to then tuck it in past the goalkeeper bringing the score to 2-0.

EC and Sealth players face up against each other.

Eastside’s Cade Boehl breezed past the Sealth defenders before slotting one in past the Sealth goalkeeper, bringing the score to 3-0.

Eastside made sure to keep this Sealth team on the backfoot throughout the match and limited their opportunities to go forward thanks to a high press. Eastside made a change of tactics against Sealth this game following their 2-1 battle earlier this season which saw a red card and a lot of rough play.

This extends Eastside Catholics record to 8-0-2, helping them maintain their spot at the top of the table in the Metro-Sound league. While Chief Sealth falls back to 4-7-1 in all competitions and 3-6 in the Metro-Sound league.
