Boys Basketball: The Crusaders Dominate the Eagles in Their Season Opener

The Eastside Catholic Crusaders established themselves as a dominant force early in the season in their game against the Lindberg Eagles.

Last Thursday, the Eastside Catholic Crusaders hosted the Lindberg Eagles, resulting in a 71-31 blowout victory for the Crusaders.

The Crusaders dominated in their first game of the season, performing as a united force. They were winning from start to finish with the Eagles never once taking the lead. After the Crusaders’ state win last year, some doubted that they would reappear this season just as strong without the seniors that led them to victory; this was clearly not the case. With all of their backups in by half time, the Crusaders proved their dominance yet again.

EC top performers included sophomore Achilles Reyna, who tallied up 13 points; senior Alex Elston, who had 19 points in just 3 quarters; and freshman Tytan McNeal, who put 13 on the board. Two of these players are underclassmen, yet they are already performing at a high level and making a difference for the team which will assist with the transition as graduating seniors such as Elston part from the team in the coming year.

The Crusaders’ next game is against the Seattle Prep Panthers. The Crusaders beat the Panthers both times they faced off last year. However, while the former state champions are favored to win this game, the Panthers are looking to make a comeback.
