Girls Soccer: Prep, EC scoreless in Sammamish

Undefeated Eastside Catholic met last year’s Metro League Champs, Seattle Prep, for a chance to move further up the conference standings.

Last Thursday, Eastside Catholic Girls Soccer faced off against Seattle Prep at Acosta Field in a defensive game that resulted in a 0-0 tie.

This tight match up was headlined by the Crusader’s goalie, Logan Hellyar, who had showed off some masterful saves with the help of her back line.

This matchup may not have made for the most active scoreboard; however, it was a historic night, with lots to takeaway. For the first time in 12 years, Seattle Prep did not score a goal on Eastside, attributing well-earned attention to the Crusaders defense.

It was Seattle Prep’s outside forwards, Clare Wagner, Piper Pickar, and Jayce Woodward who kept the Crusaders defense on their toes through the entirety of the game with very aggressive and persistent striking.

It was Maile Chamberland the Panthers’ goalkeeper, who disappointed the Crusaders on multiple occasions.

A defensive match like this is sure to leave both teams with a lot to work on to prepare for each other, this could be a possible matchup down the stretch as we look to the playoffs for these two very competitive teams.

Eastside’s ability to put a glove on Prep’s outside forwards is significant of a very imposing defense, these were two teams that everyone should keep their eyes on.

Eastside Catholic will go onto play West Seattle this Tuesday at home and Prep will head into play Seattle Academy at their home field.
