Coming off of a 6-game losing streak with only one tie in between it all, the Cleveland Eagles are burning for a rematch against Eastside Catholic. Just three weeks ago they played against the Crusaders and lost 0-9. But with home-field advantage, the Eagles hopeful of avenging that loss. Eastside on the other hand has had a strong season with 8-1-1 record, with the lone loss and tie coming against the same team, Bishop Blanchet.
But the hope was short-lived, as EC freshman Xak Mitchell who tallied two goals on either side of halftime to propel the Crusaders past Cleveland 4-1 and record a season “double” over the Eagles. Also finding the back of the net for the Crusaders was Cade Boehl and Evan Kim, who took advantage of the changes in net for Cleveland.
It was a rough day in net for the Cleveland goalkeeper Eliot Jones, who was deputizing for the starting keeper that was injured earlier in the week. Despite a number of close-up saves, his efforts weren’t enough to keep the Eagles in the game, as the Eagles dropped their 7th straight.
Cade also makes another save in the same half, giving Cleveland a strong chance back into the game, but it was not enough as EC kept the pressure up and scored two more goals, wrapping it up for Cleveland, Eastside winning 4-1.
