Swimming: EC outmanned against Seattle Prep

Published on

Seattle Prep had a large team, at least compared to EC. But EC swimmers were determined to win as many events as possible this meet.

In the 100 Yard Freestyle, heat is lead with powerful dives from everyone as Aiden Fernandez of EC and Zach Wilson of Seattle prep are neck and neck in the race. Once they were nearing the wall no one could not tell who was going to win, or who did. We had to look at the times afterwards, with Fernandez winning only by 0.15 seconds, a true nail biter, winning only by a hair.

With no competition from EC, Prep’s diving team was free to perform without the weight of nerves. The Panthers’ diving team had an amazing performance, with Bear Swan finishing strong with a forward and a backwards double somersault in the tucked position, with a degree of difficulty of 2.2 and 2.3.

With its numerical advantage, Seattle Prep finished with a combined team score of 125, while EC finished with 53. Even with the large score difference, both teams won close to equal amount of events, with Prep winning 7 and EC winning 5. After all of this both teams were very content with how the events went, and were seen congratulating each other after races.

After the events, I interviewed the EC Captains about how they feel they improved and how well they did in these events.

Aiden Fernandez and Ryan Houshyari said that they were proud about how the team improved and that they were very satisfied with the results. Sometimes people don’t make it to practices, but they always bring it home towards the end and they show how much they all improved. Especially with how team camaraderie is so good that everyone works to improve and puts in 110% into their meets.
