In second round of the Washington State Playoffs, the Auburn Riverside Ravens take a trip up to face the O’Dea Fighting Irish.
The O’Dea-Fighting Irish have been dominating the gridiron this season with an undefeated record, which they have continued through to the postseason. With hopes of taking down the Fighting Irish and continuing their post-season games, the Ravens entered this game with a 7-4 record and a fire in their hearts.
O’Dea, being a force to be reckoned with this season, has gone 10-0 with their star player, senior running back Jason Brown Jr., who had a total of 644 rushing yards this season. After a very difficult first quarter where the Ravens were put to a stop at every attempt they made, the game continued and proved just as difficult.
With the Fighting Irish putting up 28 points in the first quarter and putting a weight on Auburn’s shoulders through the rest of the game, the Ravens put up a great fight, but the O’Dea offense was simply too strong and kept the Ravens back from what could’ve been a massive upset.
With Auburn only having four first downs compared to O’Dea’s seventeen, the win seemed to be in the Fighting Irish’s grasp after that powerful first quarter. Though the dominant Fighting Irish seemed to slow down throughout the game as the Auburn defensive tried to keep up with them.
With the Ravens having two sacks against the Irish, O’Dea’s whole game seems to be focused solely on the rushing of Brown Jr., who has continuously proven to be a key player in all games this year. Stopping this all-star athlete seems impossible for every team O’Dea has faced so far.
While O’Dea did slow down throughout the game, it didn’t stop them from taking the win over Auburn Riverside with a score of 48-0 and a total of six touchdowns, five of which were from Brown Jr. and the other one from senior wide receiver Andrew Tran.
While this may be the end of Auburn’s post-season games, it certainly isn’t the end for O’Dea as they head off to the familiar Memorial Stadium to face the Garfield Bulldogs in what should be a must-watch game this weekend.
