O’Dea’s Jason Brown Jr. might just be one of the best running backs in Washington state. With only four games under his belt the running back has accumulated over 740 yards and 9 touchdowns according to Max Preps. Brown is currently fielding offers from a series of Power 5 schools, and despite Michigan State leading the star RB’s recruitment, Brown will be heading to Oregon this weekend.
Brown is setting the pace for the rest of the league with his impressive work leading the O’Dea varsity football team to a solid 3-0 start and the No. 3 ranking on SB Live.
O’Dea’s Varsity Football Coach Monte Kohlertold the Tacoma News Tribune, “We’re blessed to have him, that’s for sure. He’s a complete difference-maker.”
Brown was named a MaxPreps Junior All-American in 2022 for his high-school career total of 21 touchdowns and 1600 plus yards, He competed in the Junior Olympics where he placed top five in the 100, 200, and 400 meter events, bringing Seattle three medals.
“Going into senior year, I had a plan to be committed, but everybody’s process in different, so I trimmed my list down so I can focus on it later, It was important to come into the season with a clear head and leave everything on the field so I can go chase a state ring,” said Brown in an interview with the Seattle Medium, “My final list was based on relationships. I know if a coach values me off the field like he does on the field, they’ll respect me and how I mature as well.”
Brown is expected to receive a full-ride scholarship to the school of his choosing for his masterful plays on the field.
As his senior season begins, Brown is definitely a player to watch. With his combination of impressive stats and fierce determination, he will look to keep his place as one of the top players in the league this season and a real asset to the Fighting Irish.
Catch Brown in action this Friday, September 22nd as O’Dea hosts Seattle Prep at 7PM.
