Lakeside Lions Boys Soccer gets wiped out by O’Dea on Monday

O’Dea beats Lakeside 5-1 Monday night, and it is not looking goof for the Lions.

This Monday, the O’Dea Fighting Irish took on the Lakeside Lions to see which of these slow-starting teams could start to try and generate some momentum this season. Unfortunately for Lakeside, O’Dea eased past them 5-1 to claim the result. In the previous 2024 soccer season, O’Dea had won against Lakeside 4-0, so the Lions were hoping to overturn that result this time around but to no avail.

This season O’Dea’s offense has not been on point, but this game they dominated. Up until this game, they had only scored 3 goals total in the 4 games that they previously played. O’Dea almost doubled the number of goals in this game that they have scored this season.

The result could be crucial for O’Dea because, up until this point, the Irish hadn’t been able to record a victory this season. This game bumped up their record up to 1-3-1 this season so far.

This season hasn’t started in the way Lakeside would have hoped, and the Lions are still looking for their first win of the season but, besides this result, have lost incredibly close games.

Both teams stand at 1-3-1, though Lakeside’s win was a 5-4 non-conference win over Nathan Hale to kick the season off.

Will O’Dea continue to work on their offense to become better? Will No. 14 Lakeside bounce back in their next game against a No. 6 Seattle Prep on Wednesday?
