Football Recap: Vikings Overwhelm the Bulldogs in a Landslide Victory

In the highly anticipated game in the community, the Vikings overwhelmed the Bulldogs in a lopsided win.

Last Friday night, Memorial Stadium hosted a rivalry game between the Rainier Beach Vikings and the Garfield Bulldogs, when the Vikings dismantled the Bulldogs with the final score of 50-8.

Garfield started the game off hot by scoring the first points of the game by getting a pick-six late in the first quarter by Jah’Lil James to put the Bulldogs up 8-0. But, that would be all the success Garfield would have as those were the only points they were able to put up all game.

On the Vikings’ following drive, they would immediately score a rushing touchdown with Akeem Murph Jr. The points wouldn’t stop there as they would force a safety late in the 2nd quarter and score two more touchdowns in the 2nd quarter. A 52-yard touchdown run by Akeem Murph Jr. and a 31-yard pick-six by Zevion Watkins ended the 1st half with the score 24-8.

Coming out for the 2nd half the Vikings’ were still unstoppable as they would capitalize off a fumble recovery and score a 40-yard touchdown run by Jarvae Lindsay. They would continue to dominate by scoring another touchdown by Zevion Watkins — as a RB this time — increasing the score to 38-8.

Rainier Beach’s defense would continue to be dominant by forcing a punt of 4 & 30. With their big lead Beach would put their backups in and that didn’t slow the offense as Marquese Ili-Meneese and Khi Fields would both score receiving touchdowns on back-to-back drives finishing the game with the final score of 50-8.

With that loss, the Garfield Bulldogs will drop to 1-3 on the season, and they hope they can turn their season around this Friday as they host the 3-1 Roosevelt Rough Riders.

The Rainier Beach Vikings improved their record to 2-2 with their victory last Friday and hope to use this momentum to try and beat their next opponent the Seattle Prep Panthers this Friday.
