Girls Lax: Enselman nets 8 to power EC past Sumner

Elle Enselman had a day for the Crusaders as she logged half the team’s goals in a big win over Sumner.

Eastside Catholic beat the Sumner Spartans 16-6 on March 20.

Last year, 2024, Sumner High School was ranked 5th in the Metro League’s power rankings, while Eastside Catholic was ranked 6th. Yet, EC won against Sumner last week, leaving EC with a 4-0 winning streak this season.

Elle Enselman was incredible on the field Thursday and was the #1 scorer the whole night, with a whopping 8 goals, which was 1/2 of the goals scored the whole game. Along with Regan Walters, Molly Hamilton, Kole Razwick, and Olivia Shogren scoring the rest of the 8 points that night.

Yet just because EC won, it does not mean that Sumner didn’t put up a good fight. The first quarter Sumner put up a solid 3 points in the first quarter, with the score at 4-3.

Sumner had some strong defense, but maybe a little too strong. While Eastside Catholic had 1 card the whole game, Sumner had quadruple the amount. Their defense never gave up the whole game and it was extremely intense.

Eastside Catholic’s team wasn’t the only one with a player who scored half the points. Marguerite Davis scored 3 of the 6 goals that night. She did not miss any of the goals she shot which is extremely impressive. Leilani Frank and Baylee Rapier shot the other 3 goals that game.

Overall, this game was incredible, high stakes the whole game and it was extremely intense. Sumner and Eastside Catholic fought until the end, and it will be interesting to see how they preform throughout the season.
