Eastside Catholic Boys Soccer Tops Chief Sealth 2–1 in Gritty Comeback Victory

In a dramatic showdown last Friday, the Eastside Catholic boys soccer team pulled off a gritty 2–1 comeback win over Chief Sealth, despite being down to 10 men for nearly the entire match.

The game changed direction right before the 15-minute mark when EC midfielder Nik Tsitsis received a straight red card after bringing down a Chief Sealth player during a corner kick. Playing with only ten players EC started to fall behind soon after the match continued. The Chief Sealth team scored their first goal shortly after EC received a red card because their midfielder provided a precise pass that enabled their forward to easily finish past the goalkeeper.

Eastside Catholic refused to give up and instead responded with determination and passion. Chief Sealth’s defense faced difficulties when they received a free kick in the box which came in just under ten minutes later. The ball failed to clear the defense and landed precisely at Aiden Saga‘s feet who then took a clean shot that equalized the game at 1–1.

EC seized their opportunity during the tense final moments of the second half when the game remained undecided. A formidable strike from the edge of the penalty area in the last five minutes compelled the Chief Sealth goalkeeper to make a challenging save. A rebound landed directly before EC forward Cade Boehl who acted fast to secure the go-ahead goal and triggered celebration among the EC beach.

The team’s hard-earned victory represented more than a mere three-point game; it highlighted EC’s collective resilience and their mutual belief and unity. The team maintained their efforts and showed determination and composure despite being one player short for more than 70 minutes. Eastside Catholic demonstrates this season that their team is not only talented but also mentally strong and prepared to face any challenge because they have gained momentum and growing confidence.
