Eastside Catholic traveled to Lakeside last Friday hoping to earn a spot in playoffs in a high stakes game. Coming into the contest, the Crusaders were 6-6, and Lakeside, looked to be strong competition, going 7-4 overall. Despite the better record, the Lions found it tough to keep pace with the Crusaders offense, and the visitors took home a 13-4 victory.

Lakeside had come into this game with a strong confidence with their family backing them up. Their senior night wouldn’t be one to disappoint, as Alex Allard made multiple dodges through the EC defense and scored, firing up their team. And Win Flaggert hits a snipe from 20 yards away keeping the game close. But EC weren’t going down without a fight.

The Wills of EC have both been working together like a well-oiled machine, as Will Hamilton scored three points and Will Harbottle scored four. Cameron McColly of Eastside has been a star shooter for the team, scoring six for himself, nearly half of the goals this game. Caleb Ellis stood strong in the goal, saving 12/16 shots, a 75% save percentage throughout the game. He stayed levelheaded under pressure and made a clean pass from being backed into a corner to midfield.

Eastside Catholic played very disciplined throughout the game, and that’s what brought them to their victory. Taking advantage of any and every mistake Lakeside made, they beat Lakeside 13-4, while leaving little room for error themselves. This game will bring EC to the playoffs for state, but how will they do there against Seattle Prep next?
