Game Of The Week: Crusaders look to overturn history against Lakeside this week

This Tuesday, the Crusaders will be traveling to play one of their toughest Metro League competitors, the Lakeside Lions. The past few years the Crusaders have struggled time and time again against the Lions, not managing a single goal while allowing 13.

Though there’s cause for EC optimism this time around. The Crusaders have caught momentum in their season like never before, managing 7 points from a possible 9, and are yet to concede a goal to opposition.

This season hasn’t been Lakeside’s strongest start with a 1-1 record in Metro League play, recording a 2-1 win over Seattle Academy but suffering a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Bishop Blanchet. Outside of conference play, the Lions haven’t found momentum either, losing 1-0 to Issaquah and grabbing a close 2-1 win over University Prep.

Key factors for the Lions will be their strong goalie Isabel Willems who should be a good test for Eastside’s new forward Marlena Ferrer who has made some recent noise for the Crusaders, already tallying her first high school goal this season.

This game will be a great contest to see what direction the Crusaders and Lions will be heading this season.
